Thanks to the Initiative of the former U.S President Barak Obama about the Young African Leaders Iniciative Regional Leadership Center East Africa Nairobi.
I attended Cohort 20 in Civic Leadership with these Expectations.
TO Crate a YOUTH platform from the grassroots to the policy making levels and on to leadership positions.
A platform where the thoughts, ideas, concerns and complaints of young people are not just heard but listened to. Enabling and encouraging constructive dialogue that filters down and comes together to light up the way to a representative and bright tomorrow for the youth of today. Contrary to the traditional wisdom, youth are not the leaders of tomorrow. We are the leaders of today. As such we must seize the opportunities availed us and strive to achieve as much positive change as we can.
Thanks to the training I had, I am living with my Expectations,
1. With Support of Laspnet Uganda, I Crated Youth Against Corruption Arua Chapter, Youth Against Corruption Arua Chapter is a Youth Platform in Arua, the platform brings together Young leaders from Youth led organizations in Arua to Advocate, Monitor Corruption cases in the justice institutions especially court, police and prisons,
2. With the support of Uganda Youth Network a National Youth Organization that brings together Youth Organization, I crated Youth Budget Advocacy Allance. YBAA is a platform that brings together Youth leaders in the Arua District to engage in budget analyses, Tracking and Budget Advocacy. influencing Budget allocations in their interest. YBAA will be engaged in budget monitoring, analysis, and advocacy at both local and National levels And Economic Livelihood Advisory Panel Arua........
3. I now sit at National Platforms to discuss policy issues in Uganda
4. As T.O.T of SEATINI-Uganda under the Project of Financing for Development in Arua I created Neighborhood Assemblies. Neighborhood Assemblies are community platforms that brings together community members in a geographical area to discuss issues in their locality and find solutions to the problems and invite their leaders for dialogue and accountability
The program interventions include; Training CSOs and capacity enhancement of Citizens on access to information from local to national levels.Budget tracking and monitoring for policy influencing.Research on key aspects of the Uganda’s fiscal systems to enhance easy access, sharing and utilization of fiscal information.Evidence based advocacy and civic awareness campaigns, including engagement with duty bearers.Advocating for increased pro-poor government spending on key sector/ or related specific issues within sectors such as education, health, agriculture, social protection and gender.embers of Tax justice alliance where we advocate for tax equality and also ask citizens to pay taxes.
