I am Jean-NDONGUI, cohort 16 and current Chair of the YALI Congo Chapter. My modest testimony illustrates the transformation that YALI-trained youth are experiencing. Before YALI, I had the dream to help reduce the unemployment rate in my country by providing practical training in leadership, entrepreneurship and business to the young people in my country and finance their projects. Thanks God, YALI selected me based on this project and I was trained in business and entrepreneurship at the regional leadership center in Nairobi.
It was during my training that my ideas of launching my project became clearer. Better still I met another member of YALI Cohort 15 with whom at the end of my training we launched our NGO called LEB CONGO in 2017. From March to March 2018- We have trained over a thousand (1000) of young people in the twelve departments of our State. The training of these young people focused on leadership, entrepreneurship and business.
After one year, we paused and reflected on the sustainability of our NGO in March 2018, and decided to create a company that could generate income to reinvest that in the NGO to train more young people and finance their projects. That's what we did. We have signed an important partnership with the world's top 20 American company. In this partnership, we are their exclusive representative in the Republic of Congo. The company name’s Franklin Covey.
We have employed 4 staff members in a permanent labor contract and have 14 volunteers working at LEB CONGO.
We say thank you to YALI for giving us ‘’wings’’ to fly so high. And we promise to do more than we have done.
