ON MY QUEST FOR A BETTER WORLD
Edited by Admin Users | Updated: Wednesday, 9 October 2019, 7:24 AMI was not always a self sufficient law student at the University of Nairobi.Aaron ONYANGO grew up around the Kaloleni and Manyatta slums of Kisumu,Kenya. As a child you don't even realise your parents struggling to make ends meet but it becomes clearer as you get older.
I was lucky my parents made it out of the area, got better jobs and most importantly invested in me to get me to where I am today. It however nagged me,what of those I left behind who needed someone to invest in them, the neglected youth with so much potential that goes untapped?I had to something about it.
I involved myself with numerous initiatives that were community service oriented and did as much as I felt I could but something was still amiss.
After attending the YALI RLC E Africa as a member of cohort 28 my purpose has never been clearer.
Through my Rotaract club and as a member of other Non profits,I am now committed to spearheading various projects including, sanitary towels project and agricultural projects that will Go beyond temporary assistance and help the needy in society become self reliant and dependant.
I hope that one day,no one in my county will go the whole day hungry,no girl will miss school because of menses and no youth will ever wonder how they'll pay their bills.
