My name is Elinah Kale,i realized that in my community there were so many cases of defilement, children abusing drugs, child negligence, school dropouts. i started educating the community on children rights,, mentoring children and offering free counselling services.
I learnt about YALI through a colleague of mine, i applied and got accepted in cohort 25 and this was the best moment for me.My YALI journey has been life changing,a journey of self discovery and personal transformation. I met young leaders who helped me become confident and a good listener. After YALI, i focused on Women and Youth Empowerment where i have been able to reach out to 197 women in my community, training them on entrepreneurship skills, health and nutrition and helped them form groups. This has led to the birth of Kaura- Kingarine women group which is currently doing commercial poultry farming and table banking  and  mutunguru- kaura folk media dancers which apart from dancing during events they are planning to start offering outside catering services. i have also continued advocating for children rights and ensuring that children are given an enabling environment to fully realize their potential. The skills i acquired during YALI has helped in my work place,i use design thinking process to come up with solutions to the problems affecting the members of public. i also learnt the skill of public speaking which has helped me become more effective when talking to members of public during meetings.
