YOUTH EMPOWERMENT - POWER SPACE 1

To begin with, are you a young person with a vision to make a difference in your community in your small or big way? are you a visionary leader? Are you within the borders of East/Central Africa? If yes - Feel free to check eligibility but first, YALI RLC EA is a sure bet take it to the bank. Anyone going through such a thought provoking, life changing and once in a lifetime experience is left wondering why it took so long to figure a way out towards solving some of these societal problems. But then you remind yourself that experiences as such, partnerships from interactions therein, Knowledge acquired and most of all understanding the problem well enough bears a lasting solution and has positive influence to the society ultimately.

 
Considering the investment by Yali RLC EA to edify not just myself but people around me and the society at large, i immediately after Cohort 28 commencement reached out to potential human resource who most of them happen to be Yali alumni. After sharing the vision and concept of producing a youth-centric TV show that is to be a platform seeking to spark vital conversations that lead to positive and progressive transformations - They were more than willing to be part of the same in different capacities, some as mentioned below and others as will be evident soon enough.
Elated to announce that we were also able to positively reach out to several partners especially on technical fronts and that we will be producing our premiere episode of POWER SPACE 1 TV SHOW in a forthnight. 
 
We are grateful to Yali RLC EA staff for making this possible, we hope to be seeing each other and everyone else on the screens in your sitting rooms, public places and the streets of social media as we keep sharing, growing and influencing our societies. Be sure we will be calling on some of you as guests, experts in your areas of influence and part of the amazing audience - when we do, please be excited, tell a friend and be sure to put on your sunday best ( No pressure).
For reasons contained in terms of engagement with partners, we may NOT immediately share the specifics on TV station, Time and Dates the show will be airing - However, we promise to give this details as soon as the terms allow - soon - Just stay looped to #PowerSpace1 - Will you? Great.

PROGRAM OVERVIEW

Information is a vital factor when seeking to solve a problem, be it a societal,technical or a mechanical challenge, if one has the right information on any given issue, one is empowered to handle whatever challenge brought forth by lack thereof of the same information.

Information in itself runs the risk of being distorted from one source to the next recipient – This is mainly caused by a number of factors including the format of propagation, channel of dissemination, amount of information, timeframes and last but not least the know-how of the source / recipient of the same information.

Important to note, if such information is going to be of help or not depends on other very important factors e.g. demographics, gender, philosophies by cultural / political / social and / or religious beliefs, geography & scholastic status of the source/recipient.

Let’s pick a few guiding factors that “Power Space 1” will focus on; dynamics in demographics, gender question & philosophical aspects. This is because the target audience in this case is The Yout' (18 - 40yrs).

A ration of focus will tag on;

-        Who? Source/Recipient

-        What/Which? Information

-        Why/Why Not? Information/Recipient

-        When/When Not? Source/Information

 

THE NEED / PROBLEM

-        Infrequent desirable information dissemination platforms

-        The disconnect between the youths and policy makers

-        Misinformation / Misrepresentation of information on vital socio-economic issues that affect different communities at the grassroots.

REMEDY

Power space 1 is a platform that seeks to bridge the divide between the youth and policy makers. The platform will spark vital conversations that lead to positive and progressive transformations.

#PowerSpace1 is an intervention to save young people from the cumbersome, old age & boring forms of information distribution and assist organizations in doing the same but in a creative & efficient way.

This is not your everyday televisual show, this is a unique, well crafted, entertaining, captivating and memorable times type. 

It’s a goose-bumps generating kind of watching & listening to the youths, featured acts, policy shapers and assorted experts indulge in interactive conversations before an amazing audience.


How?

The youths will not only have a platform to share their triumphs & plights but also suggest ideal solutions to various socio-economic challenges.

Artistes will get an opportunity to showcase various art forms to communicate the ideal solutions to their respective community challenges.

Assorted experts will provide pertinent gen on the subject matter and policy makers are then expected to use their leadership positions to effect transformation.


VISION/ MISSION

#PowerSpace1 envisions a proactive, responsible and well-informed generation of young African leaders.

As well, on a mission to help organizations with messages meant for young people and policy shapers that they achieve their objectives of distributing the information in the most desirable way, encouraging the young people to leverage on opportunities and challenges alike for better livelihoods and ultimately a progressive society.


KEY OBJECTIVES

-        Meaningfully engage young people in seeking solutions for socio-economic challenges

-        Help different organizations in information distribution & realizing constructive feedback.

-        Provide a platform for talented youths with different talents to showcase their craft

-        Provide livelihoods to a number of young people who suffer due to unemployment

-        Provide a platform to link talented young people to potential markets & opportunities.

-        Provide a platform for young people to share with each other andother stakeholders on different issues affecting the society.

-        Provide a platform for governments, public benefitorganizations, private sector and resourceful individuals to share different types of vital information to the target audience and also realize feedback on different processes and structures.


STRATEGY

#PowerSpace1 will be a recorded televisual show that’s produced in front of a live audience once a week.

#PowerSpace1 will be recorded in different venues once every week across the country and the continent in future. (Resource Centers, Universities, Technical Institutions, High Schools, Youthful organizations etc.)

#PowerSpace1 will also be very present on social media platforms (YouTube, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram)

#PowerSpace1 will in future be a live television show in front of massive live audience across Africa.


TARGET AUDIENCE

#PowerSpace1 targets a youthful audience slightly stretching on both ends (18yrs – 40yrs)

This however does NOT lock out a family set up, In fact, this will be a show where awhole family can comfortably watch together with parental guidance to minors below the age of 15yrs.


MONITORING & EVALUATION

This is astage that is well factored in the plans and execution of #PowerSpace1;

-        Episodic impact analysis reports

-        Recorded testimonials (Print / Audio-Visual)       

-        Effects of call-to-action dictated by themes per episode (Records)

RECOMMENDATIONS 

We encourages organizations / institutions to collaborate on noble initiatives as #PowerSpace1 to help see that young people get the right information, the right way, at the right time and that the desired outcomes can be discerned or seen to be manifest.


CONCLUSION

#PowerSpace1 in Africa is one of the sure ways to progress a continent – it can efficiently be an archetypeplatform to sprout Africa to its glory.  Power – Africa - Power.
